Supply Chain Engineer at Udea

RR-Recruitment is looking for a Supply Chain Engineer for Udea in Veghel. Do you get energy from making logistics processes smarter and more consistent, and from guiding improvement projects on the shop floor? Do you like to get your hands dirty, dare to approach people, and know how to bring colleagues along in change? Then this role at Udea could be your next step.

Udea is a wholesaler of organic foodstuffs, natural drugstore products, and sustainable non-food items. In addition, Udea owns the organic supermarket chain Ekoplaza and the Marqt formula. The organisation focuses on the Benelux region and supplies organic specialists and the foodservice sector.

The distribution centre in Veghel is mechanised for almost three-quarters of its volume. This concept has been live since the end of 2020 and is unique: wholesale orders for shops and webshop orders for consumers are picked in parallel. This is done in a combination of chilled fresh and ambient, from a single shuttle warehouse with multiple temperature zones. The logistical flows are managed by the Astro Warehouse Management System.

Udea is developing rapidly. Mechanisation is being further expanded and the organisation is growing strongly. This makes it a dynamic environment in which processes are continually made sharper and more robust.

Job description

Job description

As a Supply Chain Engineer, you work on implementation and improvement projects, as well as continuous process improvement within Udea's supply chain. You identify bottlenecks, map them out, and initiate improvements together with the relevant stakeholders. The goal is to simplify processes and thereby ensure cost reduction, optimisation, and quality improvement. You think integrally and across the entire chain.

The focal point of the role lies in warehousing. Additionally, you will support transport developments, such as further developing route planning software, and contribute to the expansion and maintenance of mechanisation. A key task is to further secure warehouse processes. Consider implementing 5S to create more consistency and discipline, and building a culture where improvement is a given.

You work extensively on the shop floor. You check processes where they take place, actively gather information from employees, and provide concrete support to teams. You switch between the warehouse, control room, and transport departments and work closely with purchasing, sales, and IT. You report to the Supply Chain Manager and are part of a team with a second Supply Chain Engineer, two Supply Chain Coordinators, and the managers of the warehouse, control room, and transport departments.

Your tasks and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Optimising processes by analysing and demonstrating inefficiencies based on data and analysis;
  • Engage with various stakeholders and guide optimisation projects in collaboration with teams;
  • Coordinating, devising and developing new business initiatives, stemming from contact with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Provide support with the implementation and optimisation of new systems within the supply chain.;
  • Contributing to the layout of the warehouse and guiding changes within the warehouse organisation.;
  • Setting up and securing processes in the warehouse, including the implementation of 5S.

You also have:

  • A completed vocational college (HBO) or Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Supply Chain Management or Operations Management.;
  • Experience of project-based work in a logistics environment;
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and other process optimisation techniques.;
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with data.;
  • Good communication skills and an entrepreneurial, customer-focused attitude;
  • Excellent command of the Dutch language and a good command of English.

Experience within food or foodstuffs, for example with a retailer or a 3PL service provider with strong stakeholder management, is a great asset. Demonstrable experience with 5S within warehousing is a big plus.

What do you get from us?

Working at Udea means working within an organisation that is constantly moving forward, where mechanisation is being further developed and where you can have a direct impact on processes.
