How RR Recruitment helped Udea to find three specialists in planning, transport and operations

A collaboration that began with one tricky vacancy - and grew into a trusted recruitment relationship with multiple successful placements.

Udea is a leading wholesaler of natural and organic products, based in Veghel. From a modern distribution centre – including its own production department for fruit and vegetables and high-quality mechanisation in the warehouse – Udea serves its customers throughout the Netherlands. What did Udea ask?

HR Business Partner Anne Verschuuren and Ruud Reinhoud knew each other from a previous employer. When Anne was looking for a Demand Planner for Udea, she found Ruud. Not by chance: Ruud gained corporate recruitment experience at Jumbo Supermarkten in Veghel, which is well-suited to understanding Udea's environment. That background made him the ideal partner for this assignment.

The role called for a specialist with a sharp analytical profile and an affinity for the complexity of a fresh produce logistics environment. Not a standard profile, and therefore not a standard search.

What followed was a collaboration that grew beyond that single assignment. After the successful placement of the Demand Planner, Udea RR-Recruitment engaged again, this time for a Resource Planner and a Transport Coordinator. For those processes, both Ruud and Juul visited the site to meet the new hiring managers in person and gain a thorough understanding of the company. Once again, with success!

How we went about it

The first visit to Udea set the tone. Bart (warehouse manager) provided an extensive tour of the distribution centre, including the production department and the automated warehouse environment. This knowledge of the working environment is not a minor detail: those who know how a company works can also find candidates who are a genuine fit.

The Demand Planner position was filled within five weeks. The Transport Coordinator was also completed within four weeks. The bar was set higher for the Resource Planner. Udea was looking for a candidate with very specific experience, and after discussions with multiple candidates, the right match had still not been made after six weeks.

Udea decided to maintain confidence and extend the exclusivity for another six weeks. That confidence was rewarded: within two weeks of the extension, the collaboration was successfully concluded and the new colleague started in early October.

What it yielded

Three vacancies successfully filled for Udea in Veghel, in close collaboration with HR Business Partner Anne Verschuuren and the hiring managers involved. A collaboration that began with mutual trust and that trust was confirmed time and again. Even when a process took longer than expected, communication remained open and the approach constructive.
