StarTech.com is a Canadian manufacturer and supplier of connectivity products for the IT and AV market. Founded in 1985 in London, Ontario, the company has since grown into a global organisation with over four thousand products supporting.

StarTech.com operates with distribution centres in North America, the United Kingdom and Asia. To better serve the European market, the company is opening a new warehouse of approximately 11,000 m² in Venlo after the summer. You will have the opportunity to be part of this start-up as a Warehouse Supervisor and, together with the organisation, establish a strong logistical operation.

Job description

As Warehouse Supervisor, you are responsible for the daily management of the distribution centre in Venlo. You report to the Operations Manager and manage the floor staff. You monitor the balance between costs, service and operational efficiency and ensure that logistical processes run smoothly.

You will start by managing a small team. As the warehouse continues to develop after the start-up phase, your team will gradually grow with it. You will work day shifts and not on weekends.

As StarTech.com already has a warehouse operating in the UK, you will spend several periods during the start-up phase working there to get to grips with the procedures, systems, and standards. These trips will be fully catered for.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

Managing the daily warehouse operation, from goods receipt and put-away to picking, packing, dispatch, and returns processing
Allocating work among employees and ensuring clear daily priorities
Monitoring and reporting on performance based on warehouse KPIs
Leading and motivating the team, with a focus on development through personal and performance reviews.
Ensuring a safe working environment and monitoring the building, systems, and equipment.
Monitoring of stock accuracy and improving processes surrounding slotting and counts
Managing warehouse management system operations

In this role, you will have a lot of scope and responsibility. It is a position for someone who independently sees opportunities, takes initiative and enjoys helping to build something new.

About you

For StarTech.com, we are looking for a leader who knows the business and can maintain composure and oversight in a dynamic start-up environment. You are solution-oriented, have strong communication skills, and know how to engage and motivate employees.

Additionally, please bring the following:

Minimum MBO (further/vocational education) work and thinking level, preferably in a logistics direction.
A minimum of 2 years' experience in a supervisory warehouse role with direct management of employees
Experience with a warehouse management system and good command of MS Office, experience with Dynamics 365 is a plus
Good command of the English language, both spoken and written, command of the Dutch language is an advantage.
Knowledge of logistics processes, inventory management, and safety guidelines
Willingness to travel to the UK a number of times during the start-up phase for training and education
